Squarefeet
Squaremeat was set up in the end of the 90´s by the Finnish psy-trance veterans Pepe Kosminen and Francoise Faggott, who can be concidered as a pioneers of the trance sound in Finland. They both have considerable experience in making and deejaying electronic sounds. Their music has been tested for funkiness, drive, bounciness and boinginess at the Psychedelic Power Disco Laboratories and it passed all tests with flying colours!
-The veterans of the Suomi sound
Both members of Squaremeat, Françoise Faggott and Pepe Kosminen, took their first steps in the early Goa trance scene in Finland in the beginning of the 90´s to become pioneering veterans of producing Suomi sound. They first got into the music as deejays, but after a few years of playing tunes they also started producing the weird underground sound of “Funland” which was later to evolve into the distinctive style of Finnish Goa trance.
They have been involved in numerous collaborations, such as O*Men, Flying Scorpions, Texas Faggott and many more.
Midiliitto, a community for electronic sound producers, was founded in 1996. Nowadays Midiliitto features around 35 associates. It must have been in one of Midiliitto´s summer gatherings in the latter half of the 90´s that Pepe heard a frog croaking “Squaremeat, squaremeat..”. Françoise and Pepe started the Squaremeat project in the circles of that community.
Squaremeat has developed its own unique style which combines house, trance, funk, disco and techno blended with an ethnic style and the darkness of the winters and lightness of the summers in Finland. The result is the chaotic and yet sense making sound of power disco, which has gained the love of audiences around the world with its wild and unexpected arrangements of the tunes.
The psychedelic power disco duo released their first tracks in 1999. After the first album Squarebeat came Wave Soup in 2000 to be followed by Jungle Boogie Party Line in 2003. Squaremeat´s latest album Astronomical Coffee Break was released in 2005.
The messengers of original Suomi sound have been performing around the world, for example in Russia, Japan and Israel just to mention few.
